New Zealand Skiing
We pride ourselves in finding you the very best skiing in the area. A fantastic choice of New Zealand’s top ski resorts and endless backcountry options are within our grasp, just an hours drive. Wanaka is the perfect location to base yourself, and that’s not only because of the awesome skiing. Wanaka is a stunning place to spend time, relax, explore. The winter season runs from late June through to September with some fantastic winter skiing conditions from July onwards. The best time to visit is from late July through to spring in September.
SKI TOURING TASTER & INTRO COURSES 2015

Earn your turns and join us ski touring for one of the most rewarding aspects of skiing. Connect with the mountain in new ways and discover the freedom and adventure that comes with it.
Get a handle on the gear, learn to lay a ski touring track, choose the best and safest line of ascent and reap the rewards on the way back down. Discover the finer points of the legendary kick turn and learn how to more more efficiently in the mountains.
Off-piste ski technique and basic avalanche safety skills will also be offered for this really practical introduction to the fine art of ski touring.

Wanaka ski resorts including Cardrona Alpine and Treble Cone offer a full range of services and great skiing from beginner to expert. Off-piste and backcountry options can be found close to these resorts or further away depending on conditions.
Ski lessons and coaching
World class tuition at all levels from Chris Fecher Tinderbox ski school Chamonix director and head ski teacher. If you’d like to develop your skiing and learn the finer point of the art of skiing a session or two with Chris will put you back on track to fun more confident and efficient skiing.
Improve skills and learn new techniques and tactics to ski off-piste and have more fun in the deep stuff. Lift accessed skiing in the Wanaka area is awesome. The perfect spot to develop your off-piste skills.
Ski touring (Day tours)
Sample NZ’s fantastic ski touring terrain and mountain huts. Based at locations around lake Wanaka and beyond. Let the team find you the best snow and epic terrain in and around the Wanaka region. A fun aspect of skiing in NZ is ski touring from the car, after a stunning drive up the mountain we gear up and ski. Try a TASTER session for a morning and find out what it’s all about the package includes hire gear (skis & skins)
Off-piste mountain safety training – EMS Pre Training
Ideal for aspiring BASI ski instructors aiming to take part in BASI off-piste & EMS courses or anyone keen on building foundation off-piste skiing skills like avalanche safety, terrain choice, navigation, group management, all key to leading groups off-piste. Chris has a great deal of experience training both aspiring Basi instructors and aspirant guides. New Zealand is a great place to do this training the terrain is easy to access and perfect for developing all the relevant skills nessecary for the EMS.
Glacier ski touring
Truly breath taking landscapes and epic glacier ski touring are to be found just a few hours drive West from our base in Wanaka. The Kiwi glaciers have a good network of high mountain huts equip with just enough kit to make glacier crossings and skiing adventures a real treat. Heli skiing – Easier than you might think!
Reasonably priced, fantastic terrain, excellent guides and a great lunch! The team have been heli skiing in a number of different locations around the South Island of NZ. The skiing is sensational as of course is having your own helicopter waiting at the bottom of your run. It’s possible to ski up to 10+runs a day this depends on the location and the potential vertical per run. Just the thought of not crossing a track all day is enough to keep us coming back for more.
We recommend accommodation from back-packer hostel type accommodation through to five star according to your wishes and comfort level’s.
