GLACIER SKIING (example days)
Ski the famous 17km ‘Vallee Blanche’ descent starting with a ride in the incredible ‘Aiguille du Midi’ cable car, taking you from the valley floor to an altitude of 3812m from where you will find the start of this classic descent. Test your nerve on the ‘Arete’ (safely roped together) before descending into the slopes and peaks of this spectacular glacier ski run. With many variations to suit the conditions and your ability, it truly is a spectacular day to remember. Once you’ve reached the bottom of the vast ‘Mer de Glace’ you’ll finish your run off with a ride down the ‘Montenvers mountain railway’ back to the valley floor and a well earned rest! THE ROUTE: The classic route starts at the bottom of the arete where you take a right towards Italy and across the wide open slope towards the South. Eventually heading left and following the flow of the glacier towards the Geant Ice falls and the Mer du Glace.
GLACIER DES TOULE (Italy)
A full and energetic days skiing over to the ‘Glacier du Toule’ and lunch in Italy before ascending the Helbronner cable car and descending the Valley Blanche back down to Chamonix. This is a great variation of the Valley Blanche and worth it for the awesome skiing and a fantastic lunch stop!
COL DU PASSON
A popular day touring from the Grande Montets, after descending from the top of the Grande Montets and crossing the spectacular Argentiere glacier the climb rises steadily to the final couloir climb and the summit col. Finally descending the fantastic open slopes down the glacier de tour.
Guiding day rates start at £340 per day.
