The Backcountry Explorer L2 is our biggest and baddest backcountry skiing course for the discerning freeride skier and ski mountaineer. The aim is to find the best snow and the best lines. We might well need to take a short hike from the lift or ski tour to find the best descents and the most adventure. The Explorer course requires greater levels of fitness and higher levels of skill in all aspects of backcountry travel. It’s a great follow up course from the ‘Intro’ pushing your technique and mountain skills to new higher levels. We’ll take you to some of Chamonix’s best spots and lesser known stashes on a mission for the steep and the deep. Searching out those steep slopes, couloirs and powder descents that Chamonix is so famous for. The level of fitness and technique required for this course is above average with long days out in the backcountry. Please make sure you’ve prepared for this, bring fresh legs and a full bottle.
We reccommed taking part in our ‘avalanche awareness’ courses before booking
A typical out on a Backcountry Explorer L2 course would include lots of guided skiing, short technical sessions and plenty of time to practice.
